
How-to guide: Tagging a transaction
If you’re reading this guide, you should have already:
- Pulled your bank transactions into Finmo, or
- Started adding transactions manually to Finmo
(Or both of the above.)
Now, it’s time to start tagging transactions, which will let you:
- Get an accurate real-time tax estimate
- Save time and energy when doing your tax return
- Stop missing claimable business expenses
How to tag transactions on a laptop or computer (desktop)
- Log into the Finmo portal
- Tap the double arrow transactions icon on the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Check that you have selected the tax year your transaction is in.
- Choose whether to look at ‘All’ transaction types, or just ‘Income’ or ‘Expenses’.
- Choose the relevant income source/tag for the transaction from the ‘Tag’ column.
The options you’re given here will be based on the jobs you’ve set up within ‘Settings’ > ‘Income sources’.
How to tag transactions on a mobile
- Log into the Finmo app
- Tap the double arrow transactions icon on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the ‘Filter’ button to look at a specific date range, the type of transaction, and price range. You can also choose to show untagged transactions only.
- Scroll to find the transaction you want to tag.
- Click the ‘No Tag’ button on the transaction (it’s just underneath the name of the supplier)
- Select the relevant income source/tag for the transaction
