How-to guide: Escalating transactions

 

Our Escalate feature lets you send transaction queries to our advisors and accountants to be reviewed. Essentially – if you’re unsure whether you can or need to claim with HMRC, all you need to do is tap a button in our app or portal and an accountant will clear it up for you.

 

When you might need to escalate an expense

 

Not all business transactions are clear-cut. Far from it in fact, which is why some cases call for expert input. Some classic grey areas for expenses include:

 

  • Gym memberships for those who need to stay in shape for work
  • Expenses related to working from home 
  • Business trips abroad (for example, if you tacked an extra day on to go sight-seeing)
  • Travel expenses – especially those relating to ‘permanent and ‘temporary’ places of work

 

How to escalate an expense.

This can be done via two sections of the app.

Via Transactions

  1. Log into the Finmo app
  2. Tap the double arrow transactions button in the lower navigation or go to the Reconcile screen

     3. Select a transaction and tap Escalate in the bottom right-hand corner

     4. Tell us about the transaction and one of our accountants will get back      to you with the relevant advice

 

Via Reconcile

  1. Log into the Finmo app
  2. Tap the double arrow transactions button in the lower navigation or go to the Reconcile screen

     3. Select a transaction and tap Escalate in the top right-hand corner

     4. Tell us about the transaction and one of our accountants will get back to you with the relevant advice

 

How many transactions can I escalate?
